When Elon Musk first annonuced that he was going to acquire Twitter in 2022, I launched a clone of it ("Gritter") just so people who were not happy about the news could have an alternative.
Gritter did manage to gain some traction, albeit too little too slowly. In the end I decided to shutter Gritter, as I didn't want to have to keep shelling out extra costs for another seemingly deadend project (it was one of my several at the time).
Fast forward to many moons later.
Microblogging Project
Now that Twitter had been renamed to X, Gritter is no longer a clever and resonating name anyway. But the idea to build a better X remains.
Soon — especially after finishing my current client projects — I'll be able to resume building and launching an X-like microblogging site for the people, by the people.
I was just now able to get a pretty nifty domain name for this new project, too. Can't wait to publicize it!
